PROCEDURE:

Italians are very specific about their coffee time, and during a visit to Italy you might have found yourself wondering what are the differences between the many ways of ordering a coffee (an Espresso) at the “Bar”

We love to add milk to our Espresso coffee: in the morning with “Cappuccino” (you know you’re not supposed to drink it after 11am, right?!) while a “Macchiato” is acceptable at any hour.

The new Barista Line Plant-Based Drinks by Riso Scotti offers plant-based alternatives that deliver a perfectly foamy “Cappuccino” and “Macchiato” as the ones you can taste at an authentic Italian Bar.

To make the foam, a milk frother is quite mandatory – but a french press could work too, or even a whisk (but it won’t be as perfect).

A “Macchiato” is an espresso with a tiny amount of foamed plant-based milk added on top – “macchiato” literally means “stained” with milk.

The ratio of a classic cappuccino is a shot of Espresso (that’s about 25ml) and 100 ml of steam-foamed plant-based milk.

A “Latte” or “Latte Macchiato” has the same ingredients of a “Cappuccino”, but the order is reversed: it’s the Espresso’s turn to stain the foamed plant-based milk.
